May 10, 2010 - Springfield College junior Mark Eaton has been named the Pilgrim Lacrosse League's Player of the Year after leading Springfield to the NCAA Tournament this season for the third-straight year.  In his first season at Clark, Jeff Cohen was chosen as the league's Coach of the Year, while Rookie of the Year honors went to Babson’s first-year attackman Alex Patinkin.

On Saturday afternoon, Springfield captured its ninth Pilgrim Lacrosse League Championship as it topped second-seeded Wheaton College, 12-7.  For the year, Eaton has gone 187-303 from the face-off “X”, totaling a 61.7 winning percentage.  He has a team-best 131 ground balls and ranks in the top-15 nationally in both face-off percentage and ground balls per game.

Springfield will host Widener on Wednesday, May 12th in the NCAA Tournament First Round.

In his first year with the Cougars, Cohen helped guide Clark to a 6-8 overall record, improving on last season’s mark of 2-13.

Patinkin had a terrific first season for Babson as he was one of the top offensive threats in the conference.  In his first collegiate season, he led the team in scoring as he recorded 35 goals and 20 assists en route to 55 points.
