Springfield College Breaks Into USILA National Poll, Ranked 18th

Springfield, Mass. - February 28, 2011 - After winning its opening two games, the Springfield College men's lacrosse team vaulted into the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III National Coaches Poll. Springfield is currently ranked 18th in the country in this week's poll.

Springfield has come roaring out of the gates to start the season with wins over Gordon, and then 17th-ranked Nazareth. Springfield opened up the season with a 12-6 win at Gordon, and followed up that with an 11-8 win over Nazareth on Stagg Field.

It marks the first time in the Division III era that Springfield has started 2-0, and the first time since 1995 that the Pride captured wins in their first two contests.

The Pride will have its hands full with a pair of tough games this week. On Wednesday, Springfield will travel to take on Endicott at 4:00 pm, before returning home for a clash against 20th-ranked Stevens on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Stevens broke into the national rankings as well this week after knocking off Endicott, 15-9, on Saturday.
