McNamara Nabs Player of the Week Honors
Springfield, Mass. - Wheaton College's Billy McNamara was named the first Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week for the 2010 season after a standout performance for the Lyons in their season-opening victory.
The Mansfield, Mass. native tallied seven points during Wheaton's lone game of the week on Saturday, a 12-10 victory at the University of New England. McNamara scored five times and assisted two other goals, as the sophomore attack man keyed the decisive third quarter with three straight goals.
With the season well underway, both Wheaton and Norwich are the only teams in the conference to have not dropped a game as they are each 1-0. Babson stands at 1-2 on the season, while Springfield has already played four games and has a 2-2 record. Both Clark and Lasell are searching for their first wins of the year, while MIT and Mass. Maritime have yet to compete this season.
