Macchi Earns Pilgrim Player of the Week
Springfield, Mass. - Joe Macchi was named the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week after he led Springfield to a 2-0 week as he recorded five goals and two assists, helping keep the Pride undefeated in Pilgrim League play.
Macchi had a terrific game against Wheaton on Saturday in a rematch of the last two Pilgrim Tournament Championships as he netted four goals to go along with a pair of helpers. Earlier in the week, Macchi scored a goal that jump started a key run in the third quarter as Springfield defeated Amherst, 10-9, in overtime.
Springfield has won now its last 21 games against Pilgrim League opponents.
Other than Springfield at 4-0 in league action, Clark, Babson, and Wheaton all own 2-1 conference records through three games each this season. Clark will have a big week of action as it takes on both Springfield and Wheaton.
