McNamara Earns Second Player of the Week Accolade
Springfield, Mass. - For the second time this season, Wheaton College's Billy McNamara was selected as the Pilgrim Lacrosse League Player of the Week.
The sophmore played a role in 12 of Wheaton's 22 goals last week, scoring four while assisting eight during a 1-1 showing for the Lyons.
In Wheaton's 12-9 win over MIT on Saturday in its Pilgrim opener, McNamara scored once while posting five assists, including on the first three markers of the game. In a narrow 11-10 setback on Wednesday at Amherst, McNamara had a hat trick and three helpers, assisting the tying marker with 1:44 remaining.
Last week was the opening week of league action as all eight teams squared off on Saturday. Clark, Babson, Wheaton, and Springfield were all victorious as they each stand at 1-0 in conference action.
Lasell and Springfield will battle in a mid-week game on Wednesday before all eight teams resume action on Saturday.
